Breed: Sphynx

Date of Birth: 26/07/2022
Weight: 1.5kg
I think we all know the strange but fascinating look of the sphynx cat and Nellie is a beautiful example of the breed. If Nellie had fur, she would have been a beautiful tortoiseshell (or calico) cat; these markings show on her skin making her remarkably interesting to look at as she is not one flat colour.
This sphynx breed is known for their affectionate nature and loyalty towards their humans; Nellie does not disappoint and she fulfils the breed characteristics. She loves nothing more than being scooped up for hugs and will let you know this with her loud, deep purr.
Nellie is only young but is already showing her love for being in front of the camera and her social nature will be perfect on set.
Sphynx cats are known for their intelligence and unique appearance; these traits make them a breed particularly suited to film and TV roles. They settle easily in new environments and don’t mind the hustle and bustle of a busy set. Nellie shows these traits in abundance. While she is still a kitten, her owner handler has begun training basic obedience and Nellie is showing great aptitude.
Nellie lives with another cat and two dogs (Tank and Sunny also on The Animal Talent roster) so is used to being around other animals and provided introductions are made, she can work with other cats and dogs on set. This well socialised sphynx cat is great around humans of all ages; she is happy to be handled by children and adults alike and simply loves making new friends.
She is confident working in a multitude of situations and is showing her love for the camera. This is a cat who is happy to wear clothes and accessories and does so regularly. Nellie steals the heart of most people who meet her and is a fantastic ambassador for her breed.
This sphynx’s friendly and outgoing personality will make her suitable for most short roles suitable for her age group and as her training develops we know her confidence and tricks will increase for more complex film briefs.
The first thing everyone notices about Nellie is her lack of hair, but look a bit closer and you will see her stunning markings. She has a smidge of ginger and white fur on her nose which makes her striking golden eyes jump out at you.
She is still noticeably young, but her mother was a very compact cat which makes us think that Nellie will be the same and remain quite small throughout her life. She is very agile looking and due to the lack of fur her muscular physique is easy to capture on camera.
The sphynx is a rare breed in the UK and most people will stop and stare when they see them. Sphynx are a marmite breed but whether you love or hate them you cannot help but look; they’re certainly attention grabbing and will create an impression in anyone’s mind. This is a perfect attribute for branding work in commercial photography; Nellie’s memorable appearance is showstopping.
Nellie could potentially play either gender and her love of being dressed up means she can wear masculine or feminine clothing to fit the photography theme. She is also great at working with props and her playful nature means cat toy photography will be accomplished with ease.
This stylish girl is a real delight and stunningly beautiful. She’s super ready to be shown off to the world!
Nellie is still young so does not have as much experience as her brothers yet, but her ongoing socialisation, confidence building and training means it won’t be long before she’s snapped up for her first professional work.
