Born in December, Krampus  this Royal Python is comically named after a mythical yuletide creature.  In European folklore, Krampus is an anthropomorphic character described as “half-goat, half-demon”, who, during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved throughout the year.

Krampus is young for her species and is still growing, yet she is showing all the signs of a fit and healthy python.  

Royal Pythons are sometimes known as ball pythons because of the shape they form when they curl.  They are often most comfortable in this position when frightened or showing signs of stress.  

Native to Sub Saharan Africa, males tend to display more semi-arboreal behaviours and can sometimes be spotted in trees, whilst females tend towards terrestrial behaviours and favour burrows and tight spots on the ground.

True to her breed, Krampus has beautiful black and gold markings throughout her body; these ‘normal’ markings are entirely natural and nevertheless are very impressive.  Healthy and active, Krampus is a fine representative of her breed.  

A very sociable snake, Krampus lives in a busy family home so she is familiar with loud noises and busy environments. This well-socialised reptile is happy to be handled, enjoys the warmth and attention from humans and is inquisitive and friendly around children.

Due to her calm yet inquisitive temperament, Krampus is happy to work in many environments. She simply loves to explore and prefers movement when out of her vivarium.  Her confident nature means she is happy in most environments.   

Because Royal Pythons seek out dark yet warm areas, night-time filming is often easier.  They take comfort from the dark so when suitable lighting is in place, filming dark, mysterious scenes will be a joy.

The Royal Python species require suitable heating and UV lighting according to their breed requirements.

Royal Pythons should not be worked with when they are ‘in shed’ as this can cause discomfort to the snake.  Shedding is when the snake naturally sheds their skin.

Like many snakes, Krampus’ movement is almost hypnotic; she’s a fabulous snake to watch in motion and this lends itself particularly well to film.  This Royal Python can work with adult actors under supervision from our experienced handler.

This Royal Python loves to be handled, and under guidance from her handler, she will work well with adult models.  Krampus is a good length and will look wonderful wrapped around an arm, leg or neck of models that can keep their calm and follow instructions from our experienced handler.

This lovely lady settles quickly and can be placed around props for the perfect photo opportunity and branding exercise. Her stunning looks speak for themselves.

In many cultures, the snake or serpent represents rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing due to the well known ability to shed their skin.  They are also known to symbolise fertility and are said to be a creative life force.  In some historical depictions, the snake represents sexual desire and passion which lends itself particularly well to advertising projects.

Krampus is an appropriate model for snake and reptile products including housing, supplements, foods and toys.  She will also suit exotic locations, luxury brands and products that have an air of mystery.

To date, Krampus has not had studio experience, however she handles beautifully and we are sure that she will thrive on set..  He handled beautifully and coped well with studio lighting and flash photography.  Krampus, the beautiful Royal Python is a young snake that makes a real impact.  Her traditional appearance makes her suitable for many media projects and she will excel in studio photography.
