Murphy a black and tan miniature dachshund with begs of energy as all young dogs should be.  What’s special about Murphy is that he and his handler have started training at a young age with professional trick trainers primed for work in film and television.  He is a well-socialised dog and able to concentrate in all environments.

He listens well, and if he is unsure what is being taught, he will stand and watch as he is so eager to learn.  Murphy is a chatty dog and he vocalises with little cute squeaks rather than barking.  Incredibly playful, he will go full-blown puppy mode when given a sock, a shoe or a soft toy, loving to run with any item in his mouth, darting between legs and enjoying the chase. Running is his favourite pastime and despite his little legs, he is super-fast.  When you rub his belly he goes bonkers and all silly; it’s an adorable bond that he has with his handler.

Albeit a small breed, the miniature dachshund was developed in Germany to assist with hunting.  Dachshunds have been helping hunters since the Middle Ages, doing everything from tracking and going to ground for game to protecting the homestead. The standard Dachshund was primarily bred as a tracker, and he was used to hunt badgers and wild boars. The miniature was largely bred down from the standard to hunt rabbits and go to ground.

They’re a clever dog that is spunky, full of character, active and loves to work; because of their general friendly demeanour they’re so popular with children, families and also in the entertainment industry.

Dachshunds have featured in films such as The Ugly Dachshund, Toy Story franchise, Grand Hotel, The Lady from Shanghai, Wiener-Dog and TV shows such as Bewitched, Flipper, That 70s Show as well as many books, comics, video games.  In fact, this breed is so popular that it’s featured in all aspects of popular culture.

Famous Dachshund owners include celebrities such as John F Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Christian Slater, Clint Eastwood and more; so Murphy and his human are definitely in good company!

With an arsenal of tricks in his catalogue, Murphy is fully equipped for a whole host of acting roles.  Not only that, but he’s adorable in appearance as well.  A fabulous representation of his breed, Murphy is as energetic as he looks and is full of adventure.  He absolutely loves to learn and even at his young age, he is already a certified hoopers agility champion at bronze level.  This level of training proves that he is capable of a wide range of skills, following instructions and working amongst a large number of people and other dogs.

The miniature dachshund is an incredibly popular breed and has exploded into ubiquity over the past decade for a very good reason; they’re fiercely loyal, good looking and fit in nearly every family home.  For this reason, they wouldn’t be out of place in a TV soap, a music video or a Netflix comedy.  They’re also popular in TV commercials and advertisements; the breed provides a cheeky charm that is super relatable.

Murphy has a great skills list (particularly for his breed) and is happy to learn new skills as required.  His TV and film training work is progressing smoothly and he is always eager to please his handler.  This is one dog that is really suited to dog acting in the world of entertainment.

On top of this, Murphy enjoys fancy dress and he can wear all manner of costumes as and when required.  This is particularly useful if you’re filming a scene that revolves around the character of the dog.

We think that Murphy will be well suited to comedies, lifestyle and family themed acting roles.  He has the ability to link skills sequences and thus can easily work to a script.

Experienced in professional studio work, Murphy has previously posed on and with props and objects.  He copes well with studio lighting and flash photography; completely unphased by the busy studio environment.

This gorgeous boy has the standard colours of the miniature dachshund, black and tan; an appearance that we’re all accustomed with.  This works particularly well for brand association purposes and commercial photography where familiarity encourages positive reactions from purchasers.

Being a well-bred dog and a fine representative of his breeding heritage, Murphy is a fabulous dog model for breed specific photography and merchandising (textbooks, keyrings, window stickers and more).

Capable of following instruction easily, Murphy is a great poser and incredibly photogenic.  We know you’ll have a fabulous time shooting with Murphy either in the studio or out on location.

Even at his young age, Murphy has already worked in a professional studio for a stills photoshoot.  He’s a confident boy that will flourish in his career.  Due to his character and body movement, we see a huge future for him in acting roles because his skillset is so high.
