Esco is a beautiful red and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier with a high level of obedience training. He’s a good looking boy and has all the ability, natural charm and steady temperament to exhibit why the breed is the nation’s best loved dog.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, often referred to as the “Staffie” or “Staffy,” is a breed of dog originating in England. Its history can be traced back to the 19th century when various types of terrier breeds were crossed with bulldogs to create a dog that excelled in bull-baiting and later, ratting. They were bred for their strength, tenacity, and courage, which were qualities useful in those brutal sports. Bull-baiting involved dogs attacking and controlling bulls, while ratting involved dogs catching rats in pits. Thankfully, these practices don’t exist anymore having been outlawed in the 19th century.
At this point breeders turned their attention towards developing a more compact and agile dog for other purposes. The Staffy was refined through the careful selection of traits like loyalty, affection, and adaptability to become a family companion and guard dog. The breed’s distinct characteristics stabilised over time, leading to the recognition of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier by The Kennel Club in 1935. The breed’s popularity grew steadily, and it became known for its friendly nature, loyalty, and love for human companionship.
They are now often referred to as the “nanny dog” for their caring characteristics. These dogs are primarily cherished as family pets, loyal companions, and even therapy dogs due to their affectionate and gentle nature. They are known for their strong bond with humans, especially children, and their protective instincts.
It’s important to note that the Staffordshire Bull Terrier should not be confused with the American Pit Bull Terrier, which is a separate breed with different physicality and characteristics. Please note, at The Animal Talent, we are vehemently against the prejudice such dogs face and absolutely advocate against Breed Specific Legislation, in line with RSPCA and Blue Cross. We actively campaign to see more positive media including the wonderful Staffy.
Esco is a prime example of the wonderful characteristics we cherish in the breed. His high level of training and excellent ability to follow instruction prove exactly why we’d love to see more of the breed in our positive media.
Esco is an intelligent dog that has an exceptional temperament well suited to the filming environment. He follows instruction well and loves to please his handler, a key component of any Staffy’s temperament. Esco loves to train and learn new skills. This is a dog that’s capable of sequencing actions and working on longer scripted roles. His energy level and tenacity means that he’s more than happy to work a full day on set, repeating actions for capturing different camera angles.
Esco is a real people pleaser and loves making new friends. He’s a fantastic dog for working with actors of any age. He will excel in roles where he plays an actor’s companion throughout the show. He shows true loyalty to everyone he meets.
Being a city dog, Esco is used to working in busy environments and noisy places, preparing him well for the high energy environments of studio work. He isn’t fazed by distractions or, lighting boom mics or any other apparatus in the studio; he’s an incredibly focused dog.
Dogs actors like Esco will suit filming themes involving the family home and living with children, obedient sidekicks and faithful companions and activity led scenes. Wonderful Esco would suit all of these acting roles beautifully.
Red and white Staffordshire bull terrier, Esco has beautiful patterning on his shiny coat. Importantly, like many of the breed, he has an incredibly expressive face and he really pulls at the heart strings. His facial expressions can be very emotive. Overall, he is the picture of obedience and loyalty; everything we come to expect of the breed and he’ll make a fine model for any lifestyle and family themed shoots.
Esco loves to work with people and can work with any age of human model. He works easily with children and adults alike. He can adapt from studio photography to location based shoots with ease and looks fabulous against any themed backdrop, whether gritty and urban, or cuddly and cute. We also love to see Esco running around the countryside, so rural based shoots suit him well.
This dog model can work with props which is perfect for commercial branding photography and he’s happy to hold a pose in many positions. Esco is a well trained dog that loves to please his handler and gets a buzz from completing a good day’s work.
Esco is a fine looking dog model that has a wealth of skills and a willingness to please. He’s yet to have a professional commission, however, as you can see from his showreel and photos, this is a well-behaved dog eager to get to work on his first media project.
