Clarence the standard poodle is a stunning, all white pooch and an experienced dog model. With his beautiful appearance and beautiful temperament, it’s no wonder he’s such a big hit in the modelling world.
Films featuring standard poodles have always been a big hit in the box office. 100% Wolf, Look Who’s Talking Now, Best In Show, White Chicks, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and animations such as Babe (Pig In The City) and The Secret Life of Pets all feature a wonderful poodle and it’s easy to see why; they certainly capture attention.
The earliest ancestors of the Poodle were said to be curly-coated dogs of central Asia, but it is also identified with France. Stylish women in France walked poodles as elegant companions, as did the French aristocracy, making it the official national dog.
The earliest breed of this dog group was the Barbet seen in Hungary, France and Russia. Interestingly, the German strain highly influenced the breeding of the poodle that we know today. The German word ‘pudel’, (meaning to splash or puddle) reflects the breed’s water abilities. They are a dog bred for hunting in the water; they love to swim, run and retrieve. In France, the dog was named ‘chien canard’ or ‘caniche’, indicating its duck-hunting qualities. Its coat was clipped to help it swim, but was left sufficiently long on the chest to keep warm in cold water.
Poodles have worked as a guide dog, guard dog, military dog, circus performer, and wagon puller; showcasing their amazing talents in a variety of job roles. And this is why they’re also wonderful to train for film and TV work. They are one of the most obedient and intelligent breeds, combining a playful enthusiasm and an adventurous spirit. Clarence is all of the above and is a delight to train and handle.
He’s a fine breed representative that is comfortable in almost any environment and Clarence is suitable for a wide variety of media roles with his bombproof temperament.
Standard Poodle, Clarence has all the talent for acting work and is suitable for filming out on location or in the studio. With a good standard of general obedience, Clarence follows his cues easily and works well with his handler.
His experience in the grooming salon (where he is a brand ambassador) means that he’s a great dog option if you’re working with water, hairdryers or other grooming products (even the human kind!) While some dogs shy away from the hairdryer, Clarence loves to be pampered! Equally, he is happy to be styled in different hair cuts as required for filming.
Clarence has a wonderful temperament around people and is good in crowds; he won’t be intimidated by the busy environment of a film set. Loving to be the centre of attention, Clarence takes large camera, sound and lighting equipment in his stride. Great with adults and kids alike, he can work with (and follow direction from) cast members as part of a scene. Likewise, he’s good natured around other dogs and, providing introductions have been made, he can work with other animal species as well.
This multi-talented boy is accompanied by his professional handler and has all the skills necessary for film work, including the ability to follow the eye line, target work, walking from mark to mark and more.
Clearly Clarence is a fantastic subject to photograph; his image is simply awesome. Aside from his wonderful temperament with photographers and his ability to pose beautifully, he doesn’t get distracted by flash which is a great asset.
Having a fully white coat enables the photographer to work with any colour palette in the background and this is particularly helpful if you’re working with patterns. If you’re working on commercial photography for a product launch or branding exercise, this is also an advantage as the colour focus will not be affected.
Although a standard poodle is a large dog, this can be used to comic effect when being photographed alongside other smaller breeds. As can be seen from his portfolio, Clarence is always happy in the vicinity of other dogs and all species of animals; he’s worked alongside birds and even encountered alpacas. This opens him up to a wide variety of locales and accompanying cast members.
Likewise, Clarence is exceptionally good with people. Though poodles have been said to be aloof, Clarence has been socialised well and is excellent with people of all ages. He is happy to work alongside and be handled by models, male and female, young and old.
An exceptional example of his breeding, Clarence is suitable for breed specific merchandise such as souvenir beakers, signage, calendars and more. Again, his image can be utilised in a variety of ways.
Clarence is experienced in the studio and has the capability to pose in a variety of positions for action shots and more. He’s happy to work with props and also wear dog clothing and accessories as required.
Clarence has a wealth of experience as a brand ambassador and has participated in stills photography shoots. He’s a good all-rounder and loves to learn bespoke actions for the required brief. Clarence is not only exceptionally good looking, he also has a lovely temperament and has a good set etiquette. Contact us today to hire this fabulous dog model.
