General Description
Cassie has a great deal to say for herself, though very little of it involves barking. This ginger-and-white Corgi holds forth in groans, grumbles and happy mutters, letting everyone in earshot know exactly what she wants and precisely how amusing she finds herself. Built low to the ground on famously short legs, with large upright ears and an alert, foxy face, she has the sturdy little body and outsized personality the breed is loved for. She is tremendous fun to be around.
The Corgi was bred centuries ago in Wales as a cattle drover, nipping at the heels of livestock and ducking the kicks that followed, which is exactly why it sits so low to the ground. The name itself comes from the Welsh for dwarf dog. Corgis found lasting fame through Queen Elizabeth II, who kept more than thirty of them across her reign and turned the breed into a small four-legged emblem of the British monarchy. These days they are equally at home online, where their stumpy-legged trot and famous rear end have made them one of the most familiar dogs on social media.
Cassie is a rescue who is still finding her confidence and growing braver by the day. She is a kind, loving soul rather than a nervous one. Around new people she simply likes her owner close by for reassurance, so she does her happiest work with a familiar face on hand. Give her that and she truly blossoms. She is wonderful with children, gets along easily with other dogs and is perfectly content to be groomed, dried off and handled by the crew. Loud noises and the whirr of a hoover do not trouble her. She will also leave a dropped treat untouched the moment she is asked.
Cassie is a comic at heart, with a surprisingly broad dramatic range for such a young performer. Those expressive ‘conversations’ of hers, all groans and grumbles, are made for comedy, voiceover-style gags and any scene where a dog needs to look like it is answering back. She can pull at the heartstrings too: ask her to look sad or gaze upward with those round eyes and she delivers a soulful close-up, while her knack for acting startled suits jump-scares played for laughs. On the action side she dashes into waiting arms, drags props across a set, hunts out hidden objects using her nose and works keenly in and around water, which opens up adventure scenes, farmyard stories and outdoor capers built around a plucky little dog.
Modelling already comes as second nature to Cassie. She is a Butternut Box ambassador with a busy social-media following of her own across Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, so cameras hold no fear for her. She holds a pose on request, looks wherever she is directed and stays patient through long sessions, settling onto a platform or into a marked spot and keeping it while the lighting is set. Dressing her up is easy: clothing, glasses, hats and even a GoPro harness are all welcome, which makes her a ready match for pet-fashion labels, accessory ranges and quirky branded content. She also takes direction from a distance and can manage motion-capture work, so a technical shoot suits her as well as a simple product shot. With her photogenic face and those famous short legs, she is a clear winner for food and treat brands, lifestyle campaigns and any product that benefits from sitting beside a dog who can be trusted to leave it exactly where it is put.
