Shadow the mixed breed is a scruffy little terrier with bags of capability. He is black all over apart from his white chest and his white front left paw; he’s got gorgeous big, brown eyes and has a look of a Patterdale terrier, yet has a clear breed mix.
Whatever Heinz 57 mix Shadow has, it doesn’t matter; it makes him totally unique and totally adorable. The best thing about a mixed breed is that you can never find an identical match, meaning that any media production that features this dog will get a truly unique model in Shadow.
Inherent in all terrier breeds is their well-known tenacity and intelligence. Bred for their bold, fearless and energetic nature, terriers are dogs that once worked as hunters. They dug out their prey, they protected their homes and families, and they cleared vermin from properties. They’re a dog that LOVES to work, and Shadow is no exception.
There have been lots of terrier breeds in popular culture over the last century; many of them mixed breeds. Explorer Ranulph Fiennes, took his mixed breed terrier Bothie on a three year expedition travelling the globe via the North and South Poles. Bothie was the first and only dog to set paw on both the North Pole and South Poles, a true adventurer! How many other dogs can say they came face to face with a moose, polar wolves, and Antarctic penguins?
Sandy, a mixed breed terrier of Annie fame. Sandy was adopted from a pound in Connecticut and rescued just one day before he was due to be put to sleep, by a trainer named William Berloni. He trained Sandy to perform 20 different cues, including barking on-demand and searching for Annie across the stage in front of thousands of people. Sandy went on to perform for Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan at The White House, and even had his own autobiography published.
Their undeniable determination, love of learning, loyalty and obedience means that terriers make wonderful dog actors. Shadow is no exception; as you can see from his showreel, this is one talented, capable dog.
Shadow is an incredible dog and has over 30 certificates in all levels of trick training. He has trained and competed with Trick Dogs Indahouse and Do More With Your Dog at the highest level, proving his talents.
His skills list is unparalleled and he is an exceptional dog, able to fulfil any role required for your script. There isn’t an action that Shadow can’t do; if he doesn’t know it already, he can certainly learn it for your production.
Shadow can work to silent hand cues (essential for filming) and can sequence his actions enabling him to perform the more complex briefs and scripts. After time settling in his new environment, Shadow is happy to work among a big crew in a studio environment or out on location. He is not fazed by the heavy lighting and distractions that occur during filming. Likewise, this dog loves to be outdoors, romping around and performing actions as requested.
This friendly boy is happy to work with other dogs and shares his household with his sister, spaniel Skye, also on The Animal Talent roster. The pair can be hired as a duo or booked separately; both are well socialised dogs oozing with confidence and ability.
Shadow is a fine dog actor and able to take cues from a large distance, which of course means that the director can get the wide shot if required. Not perturbed by the camera, Shadow is also suitable for close up work.
Shadow is a beautiful mixed breed dog model. With his jet black coat, white chest and one white paw, he’s a unique looking boy, suitable for a variety of photoshoot topics. Terriers are popular family dogs and so if you’re working with child models, Shadow is a suitable option. He suits a variety of themes including home life, urban life, rural and countryside backdrops.
His monochrome colouring is pleasing to the eye and enables the photographer to work with any colour palette. Having a primarily black coat isn’t a problem for the experienced professional photographer, particularly as Shadow is happy to work with flash and bright studio lighting.
Included in his extensive skills list is the ability to hold items in his mouth; this is perfect for branded product photography where he may be required to work with different shaped props and hold products in his mouth. He also has an excellent ‘stay’ command and can hold any pose or position.
If you’re looking for an interesting action shot, Shadow is your dog. This super active terrier loves running about and his facial expressions are the shining light that will illuminate your photography.
Shadow is a lovely dog and a fine terrier example suitable for all levels of acting and modelling work. Shadow is experienced in the live events field though has yet to have professional studio experience. Despite this, due to his confidence and abilities, we know Shadow will have a strong career in the entertainment industry. Check out his showreel by clicking the tab above to see Shadow’s talents.
